E-Safety
AT St Mary’s we recognise that e-Safety is an important part of keeping children safe. We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored both internally and externally, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any e-Safety incidents are recorded and managed in accordance with our Online Safety Policy.
e-Safety is taught to all pupils from nursery. Pupils are taught how to stay safe and behave appropriately online. In St Mary’s we strongly believe that pupils should be taught how to use technology safely and know how to report any problems they may have. Banning internet and technology will not help pupils instead we need to teach children how to use the internet safely.
Next week, beginning Monday 8th February, every class in the school will be completing a range of lessons on e-Safety to ensure all pupils understand how they can stay safe online. So keep looking on class dojo to see what your child is learning.
However we recognise that, we can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents and guardians to ensure the e-Safety message is consistent. It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online. If you feel you would like more advice on this topic, please come to our e-Safety talk on Monday 8th February. During this sessions we will discuss the importance of e-Safety and ways to ensure your children are safe online.
