Lent

As we have now entered such an important part of the Church’s year, we thought we would write a post to help us all remember what this special time is for. What should we remember.

As heard in the reading today, during Lent we should try to do extra things to follow in Jesus’ way.

1) Think about Jesus and his teachings.

2) Do something special to help others

3) Give up your bad habits and practice good ones

4) Pray – spend time talking to God.

Over this season of Lent, let us work together to follow Jesus.

Ash Wednesday

Today when some of our classes went into church, they received ashes on their forehead. As Father placed them on their heads he said, “Repent and believe the Good News.” We then answered, “Amen.” In school we have learnt that the gospels are ‘good news’ because in them we learn how to follow Jesus. If you follow Jesus you will become a better person – maybe even a saint if try really hard!

So today, let us pray that all of us remember that Jesus is our leader and guide; he will show us the way to act to become more holy.

Ash Wednesday Prayer
Walk with me this Lent, Jesus, as I fast and pray.
May the ashes remind me to follow your Way.
Amen.
